Artistic Landscapes has developed business alliances with several companies in the landscape industry. James Irrigation, an installer of irrigation systems, utilizes our expertise in ensuring that their clients receive timely repairs and follow-up.
In February 2011, we started our own blog at www.Artistic-Landscapes.com/blog in our effort to keep you abreast of what we are doing and current landscape items.
I founded Artistic Landscapes in 2004 as a result of my desire to run my own company and to fulfill my personal interest in landscape architecture. I have been studying and working with plant materials with a passion since 1994. Over the past seventeen years, I have developed an extensive background in designing landscapes and the related maintenance of shrubs and trees. This knowledge helped me earn my Landscape Design Certificate and pass the MCLP, ICPI and NCMA examinations. Techo-Bloc, a manufacturer of concrete pavers and wall blocks, designated me a "Techo-Pro" after reviewing a sample of my jobs and my business. I have also become a Certified Designer of Landscape Lighting Systems by Cast Lighting. In addition to working with plant materials, I will complete a landscape improvement by building new stone walkways and installing low voltage landscape lights if those items align with the client's needs and goals.
In January 2011, I am quoted in the Cover Story on recycling landscape items in Landscape & Hardscape Design Build Magazine.
In October 2010, I spoke to 35 members of a New Hampshire Garden Club on the best practices to preparing your property for the upcoming New England winter. For more information, please contact us.
In September 2010, I participated in a workshop related to dry laying natural stone at the Tin Mountain Conservation Center in New Hampshire. Under the direction of 1 of the 7 certified Master Craftsmen in the United States and 1 of 163 in the world, I helped build a retaining stonewall adjacent to a circa 1820 barn.
Artistic Landscapes is a member of the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association ("MNLA"). MNLA is a professional organization with a purpose to serve as a symbol of excellence in nursery and landscape products and services in Massachusetts. I am a member of the Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals ("MLP"). MLP is a trade association that represents the leading landscape professionals in Massachusetts and elevates the professional standards. The MCLP designation represents the standard of professionalism in the Massachusetts landscape industry. I am a Certified Designer of Landscape Lights by Cast Lighting, a manufacturer of low voltage lighting systems. This achievement was based on a Cast Lighting regional manager’s inspection of a multi-faceted landscape lighting system designed and installed by Artistic Landscapes. I am also an ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) Certified Paver Installer. That means that I met all of the requirements and passed an examination within ICPI's Certified Concrete Paver Installer Program. I am also NCMA Certified Installer of Segmental Unit Retaining walls. In my quest to give back to the community, I taught a gardening course at an elementary school as part of a 10-week after school program.
For the first dozen years after graduating from Babson College, I was employed as an accountant and earned my CPA designation. During that period, I developed considerable business experience, a focused and successful management style, and honed the ability to coordinate and deliver value-added services on multiple projects. With any project, I place special emphasis on not just meeting but surpassing the needs of my customers, and I consistently meet deadlines while keeping clients informed of the status of each project. Artistic Landscapes will clearly communicate the plans and process of providing you with a landscape that delivers on your dreams and goals.
I encourage you to partner with Artistic Landscapes in the design of your new landscape or pruning and maintenance of your trees and plants. These services are available anywhere from North of Boston up to and including the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. We have very pleased clients enjoying the landscape lighting systems and patios, etc. which we have designed and built in many towns including, Andover, Arlington, Belmont, Danvers, Georgetown, Groveland, Lynnfield, Melrose, Newburyport, North Andover, North Reading, Rowley, Salem and Topsfield to name a few. Since the 1980’s, I have worked in the Building Construction trade with hardscape materials. I have a solid understanding of the design process combined with implementation experience. Examples of various hardscape applications that I have built include: decks, patios, planters, raised beds, stairways and walkways. These have been constructed from a variety of natural and cultured materials. I had developed an interest in the carpentry trade by my mid-teens and began studying Building Construction in 1987 while attending Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. Over the past twenty plus years, I have developed significant depth of experience in multiple facets of the Building Construction trade, including rough and finish carpentry, electrical, masonry, mechanical and plumbing skills. I can offer my expertise as a well-rounded and valuable contractor. My passion continues to grow, along with my desire to continually cultivate new skills.
In addition to my construction work, I have been a City of Melrose Firefighter since 1999. Immediately prior to becoming a Firefighter, I held a long-term, high profile position in one of the nation’s largest home improvement companies. I served the commercial customer exclusively, and was the customer's "go to" person for estimates, product knowledge and advice. The company depended on me to provide the ultimate service for their most important clients.
After purchasing my first home, I became interested in how the outside landscape could be manipulated and developed, similar to inside construction, to create a space that is an extension of a family’s personal style and needs. Over the past several years, I have taken on additional landscape projects and have enhanced my ability to design, construct and manage landscape plans. My formal training and work experiences in Building Construction allowed me to easily transfer the necessary skills to produce the hardscape of a landscape project. I find that building patios, walkways and walls using natural or cultured materials is enjoyable and allows me a creative outlet. As a reliable, hands-on leader, I am constantly striving to produce work that not only exceeds the clients' wishes, but also satisfies my personal desire to accomplish exceptional work that will provide an enduring enhancement of my clients’ property.
With our combined effort, Tony and I provide the ultimate in personal service and client satisfaction while producing unique landscape designs that address each client's specific dreams and goals. Our landscape designs will add value to your property.
